The first half of this series is teaching on the spirit, soul, and body of man.  As listed above there are five states of man in regard to spirit, soul, and body and man’s relationship with a Holy God.

Some have never consider these truths so they have not rightly divided as the scriptures clearly do. 

Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The word of God is living and powerful; stop, pause, consider the truth of the word of God.  So sharp is the word of God it can pierce between the spirit, soul, and body of a man.  Note the active agent of the word of God works on the man.  This is intimacy with God. Reading the word and hearing the word brings change to the man.  Being born again brings perfection to your spirit, and it begins the process in your soul and body. 

1 Thessalonians 5:23  Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When you begin to look for the truths dividing between spirit, soul, and body you find the new covenant replete with the truth.  This passage showing the desire of God to make the whole being of man blameless.  Notice it is God Himself doing the sanctifying completely.  Trust in the God who is doing the work in you. 

John 4:23  "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  24  "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

Jesus was speaking words of revelation that were never spoken before to the Samaritan woman.  It is not on the mount where Samaria worshipped nor in the place where the Jews worshipped; the time has come for true worshippers to worship in spirit and in truth.  Our connection to the Father is Spirit to spirit and there is no other way to worship.  The fact of the matter is the Father is seeking you out.  He wants you, His desire is for you!

1.        The spirit of man is where life is breathed into man.

2.        The soul is the where the will, intellect and emotions of man reside.

3.        The body is the shell the outward part of man.  It is what other men see of you. 

4.        The true you is revealed by the condition of your spirit and soul

THE PERFECT MAN:

There have only been 2 men of all creation that were created without sin.  When God created the 1^st Adam he was perfectly joined with God spirit, soul, and body.  His heart, mind, and will was in complete harmony with God.   The next man that came in perfection was the man Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God.

Genesis 1:27  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  28  Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

God created Adam and Eve and blessed them giving them dominion over all the earth.  Adam and Eve had perfect fellowship and daily communion with God.

1 Corinthians 15:44  It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.  45  And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.  46  However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.  47  The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.  48  As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.  49  And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

The first Adam was a living being; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.  The first Adam was of the earth, made of dust.  The second Man is the Lord from heaven! The man was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.  Wow, here the word is calling believers heavenly being.  It time to arise and believe the word of God over our traditions!  We are  heavenly men Ephesians 2 declares we have been seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  2 Corinthians 5:17 declares us to be new creations in Christ Jesus.  Old things have past away and behold all things have become new.  It is time we gain heavens perspective and live from it.  If you are born again you are a new creation the old is gone; don’t lay claim to it!  The new has come lay claim to it!

2 Corinthians  5:21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jesus the second Adam came and traded.  He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.  Christ in you the hope of glory; what a trade!

Hebrews 4:15  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

The second Adam became our High Priest who can sympathize with our weaknesses.  He cares about what you go though and sympathizes with where our heart is at; yet He was without sin.  His sacrifice is so great we can come into God’s presence boldly at our very hour of need.

1 Peter 1:18  knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,  19  but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Your redemption is bought with heavens greatest commodity, the blood of Jesus!  You have great worth to God; proof is in the price He paid to have fellowship with you.  Behold the Lamb!  The Lamb of God alone is the qualifier to bring you to God.  There is no other qualifier; the object of your faith must be Jesus alone!

Genesis 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. 8  The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden , and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9  And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Two trees, the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  The devil has not changed his tactics; he still desires men to live from the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”.   Jesus said “I am the bread of life” and “I am the way the truth and the life”.  Life can not come by your understanding of good and evil and do more good than evil.  Life is exclusively in Jesus!  God calls His people to live from the tree of life! 

Genesis 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.  22  Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.  23  And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man. "  24  Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  25  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

God created Adam and Eve perfect spirit, soul and body and joined them together; God defining marriage once for all!  They were both naked, and were not ashamed!  Unfortunately this is not the end of the story next lesson, the fall of man…

Worship is a lifestyle and not a moment in time! We have been birthed into the kingdom of God and part of our destiny is to praise and worship Him!

12 Major themes of the Gospel.  Lesson 12 THE WAY WE WORSHIP

Colossians 3:16  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17  And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

What a great definition of a good church service; even better, what a great definition of the way we worship as a lifestyle!  “Let” speaks of a purposefully action on the part of the believer to allow the word of Christ to dwell in us.  Teaching and admonishing one another.  There is clear direct instruction we admonish with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.  Every deed of the believer being motivated in the name of Jesus!

Psalm 47:1  Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!  2  For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth.

We have been called out of darkness to proclaim the praises of God.  Clap your hands and then put a shout in your mouth.  The LORD Most High is awesome; He worthy of our lifestyle of worship!

Psalm 100:1  Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!  2  Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.  3  Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.  4  Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.  5  For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

Make a joyful shout to the LORD… suggestion or instruction?  Come before His presence with singing.  Here is divine order, come into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.  Praise and worship is always accompanied by a spirit of thanksgiving.  We can worship because His truth endures to all generations.

WORSHIP = KARA: Bow down the knee, to prostrate to bring down, subdue.

Psalm 95:6  Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.  7  For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice:

Isaiah 45:22  "Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.  23  I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.

PRAISE = YADAH: Extended hand; Throw out your hand

Psalm 134:1  Behold, bless the LORD, All you servants of the LORD, Who by night stand in the house of the LORD!  2  Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, And bless the LORD.  3  The LORD who made heaven and earth Bless you from Zion!

Psalm 141:1  LORD, I cry out to You; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You.  2  Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.  3  Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

PRAISE = ZAMAR: To touch the strings, to make music with voice

Psalm 57:8  Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.  9  I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.

Psalm 30:4  Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Psalm 33:1  Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.  2  Praise the LORD with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.  3  Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.

PRAISE = TOWDAH: Thanksgiving; Throwing out your hands in expectation of things received and Things not yet received.

Jeremiah 33:11  'the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say: "Praise the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good, For His mercy endures forever"; and of those who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause the captives of the land to return as at the first,' says the LORD.

Psalm 107:21  Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!  22  Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.

2 Samuel 6:14  Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.  15  So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.  16  Now as the ark of the LORD came into the City of David, Michal, Saul's daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

David danced at the ark of the covenant being moved into Jerusalem; his wife despised him.  Careful how you judge others in their worship!  God received David’ worship!

2 Samuel 6:20  Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, "How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!“  21  So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD.  22  "And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

David was returning to his house to bless it; not all in the house were prepared or even desired to receive the blessing David desired to bring.  David was unrelenting and declared I will worship and be undignified, and will be humble in my own sight.  Let worship be your lifestyle even when the family and friends around despise it.

PRAISE = SHABACH: To address in a loud tone, to shout

Psalm 117:1  Praise (Halal) the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!  2  For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise (Halal) the LORD!

Psalm 63:1  O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.  2  So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.  3  Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.

Psalm 35:27  Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, "Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant."

PRAISE = HALAL: Shine, to be clear, to rave, to boast, to celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.

The Hebrew word “Halal” is by far the most often word used for praise.   We have been called to shine, rave, boast, celebrate, and to be clamorously foolish before the Lord.

Psalm 18:3  I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

Psalm 22:22  I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.  23  You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!  24  For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard.  25  My praise shall be of You in the great assembly; I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.  26  The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the LORD. Let your heart live forever!

Those who seek God will praise the Lord purposefully!  God dwells in the praises of His people!

Psalm 149:1  Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints.  2  Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.  3  Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.  4  For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.  5  Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds.

Psalm 150:1  Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!  2  Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!  3  Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp!  4  Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!  5  Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!  6  Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!

If you have breath you have been called to worship and praise the LORD!

Ephesians 5:18  And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,  19  speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

The instruction is to be filled with the Spirit; you determine if you will be filled with the Spirit or not.  Put a song,  psalms, hymn, and or spiritual song in your mouth.  Do it all unto the LORD for He is worthy of all our praise; not for a moment but for a lifestyle.

Intimacy with God revealed in truths about the Godhead!

1 John 5:7  For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

Many words are spoken about the Godhead.  The intimacy with God is reveal when you study the scriptures in regards to the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit.  It draws man into fellowship with an intimate God.  God wants you and yes, even longs for you!  What an awesome Savior.  The word of God needs proclaimed even if our traditions have to be laid down.  John 5:7, there are three that bear witness in heaven: The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.  When I am asked what I believe about the “trinity” I declare “everything the scriptures say about the Godhead I believe.”  While some deny the truths spoken about the Triune Being, others go to the another extreme and embellish and fabricate beyond what the scriptures teach.  We must long to walk in the full counsel of God’s word.

Matthew 28:19  "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Here is another passage that speaks clearly of the triune Being.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is defined in a nutshell in this one verse.

Man’s sin has separated him from Father God.

The Father sent Jesus the Only Begotten Son for ransom.

All who surrender to the Son will be lead of the Holy Spirit.

True believers are those who are guided by the Holy Spirit.

Will you be immersed in the truths the Holy Spirit reveals?

John 5:22  "For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,  23  "that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Here Jesus Himself speaks of the differences and distinguishing factors of Himself and the Father.  It was a big deal for Jew to admit Jesus was the Messiah; it could cost the Jewish believer everything.  However Jesus said that Jesus the Son should be honored just as Father God is honored.  

John 5:24  "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.  25  "Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.  26  "For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,  27  "and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.

Here in John 5:24 Jesus Himself declares where the point of salvation is; it is defined by the point when one passes from death unto life!  When you believe that God the Father sent the Son and Jesus is the Son, the Messiah, you have already passed from death unto life and shall not come into judgment.  What you believe about Jesus determines your destiny in this life and in the life to come!

Colossians 1:12  giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.  13  He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,  14  in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

The Father Himself had salvation’s plan worked out from the foundation of the world.  It is the Father Himself who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saint in light.  It is His goodness that delivered us  from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.  It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance.  Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father and there is no variable that can change that truth. 

Ephesians 1:2  Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,…

It is the Father Himself who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 1:11  In Him (Jesus Christ) also we have obtained an inheritance, ...

Jesus was in complete agreement with the Father and in Him we have obtained an inheritance.  We have been made joint heirs with Christ!  Wow!

Ephesians 1:13  In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,  14  who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

When we trust in Jesus we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.  It is the gift of the Bridegroom to His precious bride the church.  The Father choose us, the Son shared His inheritance with us and the precious Holy Spirit sealed us!

John 14:16  "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever;  17  "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 

Jesus clearly made distinct differences between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Jesus prayed to the Father that He would give us a Helper; and that Helper the Holy Spirit would be in us forever!  Whenever the Triune is brought up in scriptures it points us to God’s desired intimacy with man.

John14:18  "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:26  "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

The Holy Spirit always brings us revelation of Jesus Christ.  The Father gives us the Holy Spirit in the precious name of Jesus.

John 16:7  "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

Jesus declared that the Holy Spirit could not come unless Jesus himself departed from the earth.  Then the precious Helper the Holy Spirit could come.  Jesus declared I will send Him to you!

Acts 2:32  "This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.  33  "Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

Here in Acts 2 we once again see the clear distinction between God the Father, Jesus the Son, the Holy Spirit.  When Jesus ascending to the Father, Jesus received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit.  Jesus poured out the Holy Spirit upon the believers assembled on the day of Pentecost.  Jesus is still the baptizer of the Holy Spirit today!  Indeed this was the fulfillment of Jesus own words in John 16:7.

John 16:8  "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9  "of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10  "of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;  11  "of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

The purpose of the Holy Spirit coming to us is defined in this passage.  The Holy Spirit has come to convict the unbeliever of their sin.  The Holy Spirit has come for each believer to be convicted of righteousness!  Finally the Holy Spirit is to convince all that the devil  has been judged already.  Jesus made a public spectacle of the enemy, triumphing over him!

John 16:12  "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  13  "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.  14  "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.  15  "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

Again Jesus portraying the distinguishing factors between the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.  The message Jesus was bringing was the intimacy God desires with His people.

Hebrews 2:12  saying: "I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.“  13  And again: "I will put My trust in Him." And again: "Here am I and the children whom God has given Me.“ 

What a song service it will be when Jesus Christ Himself sings the praise of the Father in the midst of the assembly!  And on that same day Jesus will present to the Father the children the Father gave Him.  How will you react on the day Jesus presents you to the Father as one of the adopted sons of God.

Genesis 1:26  Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;

It started in Genesis and can be found all through the word of God

Daniel 7:13  "I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him.  14  Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.

Here in Daniel a clear picture of the Father and the Son!

1 Corinthians 15:24  Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.  25  For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.  26  The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.  27  For "He has put all things under His feet." But when He says "all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted.  28  Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

Here in Corinthians is a prophetic picture of  our future!  It is the day when Jesus the Son delivers the kingdom of God to the Father!  Wow Jesus has all authority in heaven and in earth but there was one exception; the Father Himself was never under or subject to the Son.  The Father is the source of Jesus authority.  How great this plan of salvation is! It shows us through the Triune Being our salvation has been secured.  What a lovely God!
