Hear His Voice

Hear the voice of God and live!

“The Voice of God”

1 Kings 13:1 And behold, a man of God went from Judah to Bethel by the word of the LORD, and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. 2 Then he cried out against the altar by the word of the LORD, and said, "O altar, altar! Thus says the LORD: 'Behold, a child, Josiah by name, shall be born to the house of David; and on you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and men's bones shall be burned on you.'" 3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, "This is the sign which the LORD has spoken: Surely the altar shall split apart, and the ashes on it shall be poured out." 4 So it came to pass when King Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, who cried out against the altar in Bethel , that he stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, "Arrest him!" Then his hand, which he stretched out toward him, withered, so that he could not pull it back to himself. 5 The altar also was split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD. 6 Then the king answered and said to the man of God, "Please entreat the favor of the LORD your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me." So the man of God entreated the LORD, and the king's hand was restored to him, and became as before. 7 Then the king said to the man of God, "Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward." 8 But the man of God said to the king, "If you were to give me half your house, I would not go in with you; nor would I eat bread nor drink water in this place. 9 "For so it was commanded me by the word of the LORD, saying, 'You shall not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came.'" 10 So he went another way and did not return by the way he came to Bethel .

-

Jeroboam was the 1st king of Israel after the kingdom was divided; however I want to focus on the unnamed prophet who clearly heard the voice of God! The man of God heard the voice of God and responded obediently. He preached the judgment of God and God kept him form the anger of the wicked king!

-

It is easy to be obedient to God’s word when we know the enemy of God is trying to get us to walk in disobedience! The prophet rejected the wicked king’s offer of great reward because he was not removed from the word that God had spoken!

-

1 Kings 13:14 and went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. Then he said to him, "Are you the man of God who came from Judah ?" And he said, "I am." 15 Then he said to him, "Come home with me and eat bread." 16 And he said, "I cannot return with you nor go in with you; neither can I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place. 17 "For I have been told by the word of the LORD, 'You shall not eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by going the way you came.'" 18 He said to him, "I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD, saying, 'Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.' " (He was lying to him.) 19 So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.

-

The prophet of God had delivered the message of God and was heading out of town being obedient to the words that God had spoken. However another prophet came to him and spoke a word that directly opposed the original word God has spoken. The young unnamed prophet was fooled by the old prophet and was talked out of obeying the voice of God.

-

When God speaks don’t let religion or a supposed man of God talk you out of what you know God has directly spoken to you! A man declaring what “God has spoken” should be a voice of confirmation of what God speaks. The voice of God is greater than the voice of man! Oh that we would hear and obey the voice of God and not be moved from it. There is a great temptation to be lead away from the voice of God by religious spirits. Someone wanting to get in the middle of what God is doing may have a skewed view of what God is actually speaking. Be careful of where you are hearing from!

-

1 Kings 19:11 Then He said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD." And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

-

Elijah found God in a still small voice. It was not in the wind rain or earthquake but it was the still small voice.

-

20 Now it happened, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came to the prophet who had brought him back; 21 and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, "Thus says the LORD: 'Because you have disobeyed the word of the LORD, and have not kept the commandment which the LORD your God commanded you, 22 'but you came back, ate bread, and drank water in the place of which the Lord said to you, "Eat no bread and drink no water," your corpse shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.'" 23 So it was, after he had eaten bread and after he had drunk, that he saddled the donkey for him, the prophet whom he had brought back. 24 When he was gone, a lion met him on the road and killed him. And his corpse was thrown on the road, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the corpse.

-

The young prophet was truly a prophet but was moved by a strange voice and he was moved from the direct command of God. It cost him his life. Strange enough all that the young prophet had prophesied to the wicked king still came to pass. It was nearly 700 years later a young king by the name of Josiah burned the false alters and the bones of the false priest.

-

It is still time for the children of God to come to the one true alter found in Jesus Christ the Lamb of God! All false alters should be brought down and destroyed. Victory over sin is now exclusively found in the power of the cross and His resurrection power!

-

John 10:1 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 "But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 "To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 "And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 "Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers."

-

Jesus is the exclusive voice we are called to hear!

-

John 10:16 "And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. 17 "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.

-

You are the other sheep that Jesus has laid down His life for! His sheep hear his voice. Some claim to be the sheep of Jesus with out hearing and following His voice. If you hear His voice and obey you are His sheep.

-

John 10:26 "But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. 30 "I and My Father are one."

-

Those who are truly Jesus’ sheep hear and follow His voice! If you have not been following Jesus it is because you need a true salvation! Jesus said it so well! Come unto me all you who are weary and heavy burdened and I will give you rest! Hear His voice and live!

THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES IS JESUS CHRIST.

-

This is the end of the series on the names of God from the Old Testament. I hope that by now the message is clear. Every revealed name of God brought great revelation of Jesus Christ our Messiah. Jesus is certainly the name above every name and there is no other name where by we can be saved, healed, delivered, and made whole.

-

Philippians 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

-

Acts 4:10 "let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 "This is the 'stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' 12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

-

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

-

Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

-

Matthew 1:21 "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins."

-

John 3:14 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH- THE LORD IS THERE; JESUS REVEALED AS GOD IS THERE THE NAMES OF GOD Part 8

JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH- THE LORD IS THERE; JESUS REVEALED AS GOD IS THERE

THE NAMES OF GOD Part 8

JEHOVAH- SHAMMAH The Lord is There

-

Ezekiel 48:35 It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.

-

sham, shawm; a prim. particle [rather from the rel. H834]; there (transf. to time) then; often thither, or thence:--in it, + thence, there (-in, + of, + out), + thither, + whither.

-

Ezek 47:1 Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side. 3 And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles. 4 Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist. 5 Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed. 6 He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen this?" Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river. 7 When I returned, there, along the bank of the river, were very many trees on one side and the other. 8 Then he said to me: "This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed. 9 "And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes. 10 "It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea , exceedingly many. 11 "But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt. 12 "Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine." 13 Thus says the Lord GOD: "These are the borders by which you shall divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel . Joseph shall have two portions.

-

Lessons learned from the passage Jehovah is Shammah;

1 Ezekiel 47 speaks of the temple and the living water flowing from there. Ezekiel 48 describe the boarder of that city and declare it shall be called 'The Lord is there'!

2 It will have healing waters flowing from it. The further from the temple you get the deeper the water will be.

-

Jesus revealed as Jehovah Shammah God is there:

Hebrews 11:9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

-

Hebrew 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

-

John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

-

Revelations 21:22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.

Hebrews 9:28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

-

Lesson learned from knowing Jesus as Jehovah Shammah the God that is there:

1 Like Abraham the Father of those who live by faith, we should be looking for the city which has foundations built and made by God.

2 We should see ourselves as but pilgrims on this earth. We should have an abiding faith looking to go to that sweet homeland.

3 If you make Jesus your Lord He has promised to prepare a place for you. When He comes again He will take you to the place He has prepared for you.

4 We should be looking for the city where the Lamb of God is the light!

5 The next time Jesus comes it will be, apart from sin, for salvation. We should be eagerly waiting for Jesus Christ to come and take us to our heavenly home. The name of this city will be Jehovah Shammah! So shall we ever be with the Lord!

The Names of God! Jehovah-Raha; Jesus Revealed as the Great Shepherd Part 7

JEHOVAH-RAHA: The Lord our Shepherd

-

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

-

ra'ah, raw-aw'; a prim. root; to tend a flock, i.e. pasture it; intrans. to graze (lit. or fig.); gen. to rule; by extens. to associate with (as a friend):-- X break, companion, keep company with, feed, use as a friend, make friendship with, herdman, keep [sheep] (-er), pastor, + shearing house, shepherd, wander, waste.

-

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

Lessons learned from the passage Jehovah-Raha the Lord our Shepherd

1 If you are one who belongs to the pastures of God there is a surrender to Him being the

Shepherd.

2 The Shepherd leads to still waters; the shepherd restores the soul, the shepherd leads in paths of righteousness. It is the Shepherd's staff and rod that bring direction and comfort. It is the Shepherd that anoints.

3 Surrender to the shepherd causes goodness and mercy to follow you! Many saints are busy chasing goodness and mercy. Follow the Shepherd and you will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

-

Jesus revealed as Jehovah Raha our Great Shepherd:

Ezekiel 34:23 "I will establish one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them; My servant David .He shall feed them and be their shepherd. 24 "And I, the LORD, will be their God, and My servant David a prince among them; I, the LORD, have spoken.

-

John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

-

John 10:14 "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.

-

John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. 30 "I and My Father are one."

-

1 Peter 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

-

Hebrews 13:20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

-

Lessons learned from knowing Jesus Christ as Jehovah Raha the Great Shepherd:

  1. The good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep! Only Jesus qualifies. Under shepherds who try and get what ever they can out of the sheep, we need to beware of!
  2. Being one of the sheep of Jesus is about intimacy! Jesus knows His sheep and His sheep know Him!
  3. All those who belong to the Shepherd have eternal life!
  4. Jesus is the Shepherd and Overseer of your soul! To be His sheep is to know His voice and live by it!
  5. Jesus became your Shepherd if you surrendered to the blood of the everlasting covenant. Only Jesus can save your soul. There is not salvation in any other!
  6. Through Jesus Christ God will work in the sheep what is pleasing in His sight. True sheep are surrendered completely to the leading of the Shepherd.
