Spirit Soul Body The Law The Cross The Covenant of Grace lesson 2

God created Adam and Eve and He declared it is very good. God has always desired perfect spirit to Spirit fellowship with man. However, man needs to so desire to walk in fellowship with Him. When Adam and Eve sinned perfect spirit to Spirit fellowship was broken until the last Adam came.

In last week’s lesson we covered the spirit, soul, and body of the 1st and 2nd Adam. By the 1st Adam we all were birthed with a sin nature.  By the second Adam (Jesus Christ) we can receive life in our spirit.  Jesus indeed is a life giving spirit!  This next phase is to cover the fall of man.

In the 1st and second Adam you will remember there was life in spirit soul and body.  FALLEN MAN SPIRIT sin consciousness gained; Innocence Lost.  The spirit of man is no longer in perfect union with God.  Spirit to spirit connection with God broken!  The death is spiritual separation from God

Genesis 2:15  Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.  16  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;  17  "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

The Lord commanded the man not to eat of the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil” for the day you eat of it you will surely die.  Adam and Eve partook and the word of God came true!  That day they suffered loss of spirit to Spirit connection with God.

Fallen Man Soul; Alive to sin nature; Will, emotions intellect ruled by sin nature; Self
Centered.

Ephesians 4:17  This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,  18  having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;  19  who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Ephesians 4 leaves a vivid picture of fallen man.  Man living in the futility of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God.  The fallen man has blindness in their heart and out of that blindness they live their life.

Jeremiah 7:24  "Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.

Israel indictment was they followed the counsels and dictates of their evil heart.  The law came to make sin exceedingly sinful and show man they were powerless against the sin nature’s control.  Only the second Adam could bring remedy to it; one needs to partake from the tree of life!

Psalm 51:5  Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.

We all came from the seed of 1st Adam; we have been birthed in sin and brought forth in iniquity; we have all been birthed with the sin nature ruling.  Have you ever notice you don’t have to teach a 2 year old to lie?  It is in their nature!

Fallen Man Body; Condemned to receive the wages of death; Alive to sin nature

John 3:19  "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Romans 3:10  As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;  11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."

Many know this passage as part of the Romans road to salvation.  Man in our fallen state has no good in them.  Why?  One good act does not make a man good; a thousand good acts does not make a man good!  There is none good but God; righteousness imputed is the only solution.  That is found exclusively in Jesus Christ alone; oops jumping ahead.

Revelation 21:8  "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

All who remain in their fallen state will be partakers of the second death.  The wages of sin is death!

John 8:41  "You do the deeds of your father." Then they said to Him, "We were not born of fornication; we have one Father; God."  42  Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.  43  "Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.  44  "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Jesus made a clear dividing line.  Those who truly love Jesus have God as their Father though faith in Jesus.  Those who do not become children of God already have the devil as their father.  There is not an in-between category!

Matthew 7:22  "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?  23  "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

This Matthew passage strikes my heart!  Here is a group of people who will say to Jesus, we have prophesied in Your name, and done many wonders in your name.  Jesus' words to them are “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”    This group is trusting in their doings, even to the casting out demons.  Jesus' words “I never knew you, you who practice lawlessness.”  Wow they considered themselves to be doing the work of God and Jesus' perspective was it was lawlessness.  We can not skip over the genuine confession of faith as the point of salvation.  We must trust in what Jesus did and not in our own religious works.

Remember the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”?  Jesus said many will say to Him look what I have done…  Yes, living from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil cannot bring life to man.  We must partake of Jesus, the bread of life.

Genesis 3:1  Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"

This passage of Genesis 3 is amazing; it is up front and personal conversation first with the snake and then with God.  This week we visit the snake; next week we will cover the conversation with God.  Here in verse one the devil begins a conversation with the Eve.  Notice His tactic is to question what God has said.  It is the same tactic he used when he tempted Jesus.  If you are the Son of God…  If the enemy of your soul can get you to doubt the word of God he can have open season in that area of  your life.

Genesis 3:2  And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3  "but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden,God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'"

The scripture says God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree.  It seems that Eve got the word of  truth second hand.  Her second hand revelation added to what God spoke.

Genesis 3:4  Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.  5  "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Now the devil pours the lie on thick “You will not surely die.”  God is withholding His best from you is the implication of the enemy.  Then the devil wraps the lie in semblance  of the truth, “your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:6  So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.  7  Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings

The devil had now stirred up desire for the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.  Eve looks with desire on the forbidden tree for the first time!  She took of its fruit and ate!  She gave some of the fruit to Adam and he too ate!  They ate and their eyes were indeed opened to a sin consciousness.  They knew they were naked; the first reaction of man was to make cover themselves with fig leaves.  Self covering is one of the symptoms of sin.

Genesis 3:8  And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Even though Adam and Eve had made a covering it did not suffice; they heard the sound of God walking in the garden and they hid.  This was part of the ramifications from eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  How many times had Adam and Eve heard the sound of the LORD and ran to greet Him? Sin separates

Acts 2:2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

After the second Adam (Jesus) came and died on the cross the sound from heaven came again!  Acts 2 suddenly a sound came from heaven as a rushing mighty wind filled the house and tongues of fire set upon each one of them. Then they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.  Jesus brought reconciliation.

Acknowledgement Of Every Good Thing Which Is In You In Christ Jesus!

The sharing of our faith is effective when we acknowledge every good thing which is in us in Christ Jesus. Christ in you the hope of glory! Living from victory is the new testament believer's calling!

Philemon 1:6  that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Look what the Lord has done!  The most effective way to share our faith is to acknowledge every good Thing which is in you in Christ Jesus!

Hebrews 13:20  Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21  make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

God does the work in you through the blood of the everlasting covenant.  He makes you complete in every good work to do His will!  He works in you what is well pleasing in His sight.  When we acknowledge what He is doing in us it is the most effective way to share our faith.  His righteousness applied to us the new creation; victory is ours.

Colossians 1:27  To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.  28  Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

In Christ is a repeated truth about the new covenant believer; it is the mystery of God unveiled.  Christ in you the hope of glory.  God is calling us to live for Him in this mindset!

1 Peter 1:13  Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;  14  as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;  15  but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,  16  because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

Gird up, be sober, and rest!  What a command; this is truly the command of the new covenant saint of God. Rest your hope fully upon the grace; the greater the revelation you have of Jesus Christ the greater walking in His divine influence.  Walk as the child of God you are; don’t walk after the former you!  There are many who do not walk as dear children of God and it is because the stray thoughts of their mind rule them.  It does not have to be so!

2 Corinthians 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
4  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,  5  casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ as what each believer is called to do.  It is one of the ways we acknowledge what Christ has done in us.
Psalms 19:14  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

We all meditate on something!  Victory comes by meditation of the truths of the new covenant.  In acknowledgment of what Christ has done in us and for us.  When we think right we will live right and know the power of God at work in us.  Right thinking comes from right meditation of the word of God!

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy; meditate on these things.  9  The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

What you think on is the difference between defeat or victory.  Meditate on the true, the noble, the just, the pure, the lovely, the good report, virtuous  and praiseworthy things.

Romans 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The transforming of the mind of the believer is the only way to acknowledge what God has done in us.  Wholly trusting in what Christ has done; not trusting to any degree what you have done.

Colossians 3:1  If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  2  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.  3  For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Looking at what God has done and setting our minds upon the thing above bring a mindset of victory.  So many saints of God are one mindset away from living victorious.  Walk in the effective faith by acknowledging every good thing that is in you in Christ Jesus.

Lesson 13 HEBREWS Chapter 13 Jesus the Same Forever

Hebrews bears one revelation after another of Jesus Christ. God's desire is for your heart to be established by grace. From the foundation of grace every believer can live in victory.
Hebrews 13:1  Let brotherly love continue.  2  Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.  3  Remember the prisoners as if chained with them; those who are mistreated; since you yourselves are in the body also.  4  Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

The writer of Hebrews begins to concluded his writing.  The Holy Spirit wanted to declare some practical truths.  The truths could not be spoken until the truths of grace and truth were laid out all though the book of Hebrews.  From chapter one forward it was a declaration to turn our eyes upon Jesus and the new covenant He established.  The Father now speaks to us through His Son.  The Father has brought us into a better covenant based on better promises with a greater priesthood and a better mediator that makes us participators in divine influence.  You have been brought into the kingdom of God !  In the kingdom let brotherly love continue; love will cover a multitude of sin!  The kingdom of God brings angels on assignment into the life of the believers.  The kingdom of God offers grace to the shackled and imprisoned; grace overflows into ministry of the those who have been mistreated.  Marriage is honorable; while God is speaking between a husband and a wife let us not miss the kingdom principle.  We belong to our bridegroom and we are His bride; keep your attention in the kingdom of which you have been birthed.

Hebrews 13:5  Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you.“  6  So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

Clean hands can be found when we walk in contentment.  Contentment is not found in the stuff; contentment is found in relationship with God.  God Himself has promised I will never leave you or forsake you!  Put this word in your mouth!!!  “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear.  What can man do to me?”

Hebrews 13:7  Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.

Grace brings practical application into our lives.  God’s word says to remember those who rule over you, and have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith followed, considering the outcome of their conduct.  Follow men of faith walking in the covenant Jesus has brought.

Hebrews 13:8  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  What you have seen Jesus do in the gospels and the book of Acts he is still doing today!  He is saving, healing, restoring, blessing, and making the body of Christ whole.  Whole spirit soul and body!

Hebrews 13:9  Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.

God is asking His children to focus upon the kingdom.  God wants your heart to be established by grace.  Not established under the law of Moses or the traditions of me, but established by the grace and truth Jesus came with! Don’t be occupied with foods!

Romans 14:17  for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Grace is not about stuff;  grace is about experiencing righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit!  Let your heart be established by the word of God’s grace.  Righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit makes you a partaker of the divine inheritance.

Hebrews 13:10  We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.  11  For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp.  12  Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.

We have been brought to the alter of grace!  Those outside of the covenant of grace have no right to eat from our alter.  We however have the privilege to eat from the alter of grace.  Jesus died outside the camp of law.  It was on Calvary the way to be sanctified came.

Hebrews 13:13  Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.  14  For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.  15  Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Come Jesus' way!  Become kingdom minded looking for the city whose builder and maker is God.  Being kingdom minded puts a praise in the mouth of the believer.  One of the only sacrifices left for the believer to offer is the sacrifice of praise to God!  It not enough to think about it; put the sacrifice of praise in your mouth!  Let the fruit of your lips give thanks to His name!  Stop the complaint from being the fruit of your lips; complaint on our lips is one of the greatest tools of satan!  Change the fruit of your lips and change your harvest!

Hebrews 13:16  But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.  17  Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

The other sacrifice for the believer to offer is sharing; God is well please by such sacrifices.  The Holy Spirit calls those in grace to obey those who rule over you.  This is not a popular part of the message yet we must not ignore the truth.  Submitting to the Godly leadership is commanded!  Godly leadership must give an account for your soul; let them do so with joy!  Believer who are you submitted to?  What excuses you from the this truth in the word of God?

Hebrews 13:18  Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably.  19  But I especially urge you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

The writer of Hebrews had such a heart for the people of God.  Grace leadership have a heart for the people of God and long for them.

Hebrews 13:20  Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,  21  make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

This is all one sentence!  May the God of peace…  This is what God does!  He makes the believer complete in every good work!  God’s work is completely based upon the strength of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ upon the cross!  The blood of the everlasting covenant is the commodity of heaven that does the eternal work.  The blood of Jesus is still speaking to and for you!

Hebrews 13:22  And I appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words.  23  Know that our brother Timothy has been set free, with whom I shall see you if he comes shortly.  24  Greet all those who rule over you, and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you.  25  Grace be with you all. Amen.

GRACE BE WITH YOU ALL!  AMEN!
