“The House of Jesus”
-
John 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." 33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free'?" 34 Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 "And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Jesus came to bring us freedom from sin and make us participators in His glorious household! A slave does not abide in the house forever! A slave can be sold and sent to another household. A son abides forever! When one dies to sin and becomes alive unto God there is a transfer. It is glorious and supernatural.
Colossians 1:12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
The Father has qualified us to be partakers in His household! What a great place of covenant!
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
Those who will receive Jesus and believe on His name, the Father gave the right to become the children God. Salvations brings you into the household of faith!
Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
True salvation brings adoption into the family of God! The adoption is so great you have the right to call out Abba, (Daddy) Father! Being born into the family of God not only brings freedom from sin but it comes with a great inheritance. If you are a son you indeed are an heir of God through Christ! Both righteousness and holiness are bred into you as a new creation in Christ Jesus. So many are looking for holiness and righteousness not understanding what it mean to be an heir with Christ.
Ephesians 4:24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Yes you now have royal blood applied to your heart! The new man has true righteousness and holiness in him. Jesus' victory over sin is so great! The propitiation that Jesus provides appeases the Holy God.
Revelation 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
The adoption is so great. Jesus, by His own blood, has make us kings and priests to His God and Father. Coming into His house is a privilege that can not be measured. We have been brought in to the heavenly kingdom. The kingdom that is not of this earth. Jesus' love is so great it is hard to perceive; yet it is this very love that empowers us to love.
Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. 10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 saying: "I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You." 13 And again: "I will put My trust in Him." And again: "Here am I and the children whom God has given Me."
What a day it will be when Jesus sings the praises of the Father to the children! That is one song services I do not want to miss. Jesus suffered so that we might belong to God. Jesus is not ashamed to call us brethren to the Father Himself! What a day that will be! Jesus singing praises, that is so awesome to think about. After all of that Jesus will present us to the Father! Wow, Jesus' own words. Here am I and the children whom God has given Me! To be in the household of faith is great.
John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.
The command that Jesus received from the Father is eternal life. If we are truly His sheep we can hear His voice and another we will not follow. Coming into His household is so great. Jesus provided blessed assurance with these words. “Neither shall anyone snatch them out of Hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all: and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” What assurance and comfort we have coming into this household of faith!
Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, 2 who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.
Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus Christ! Many have made too many other kinds of consideration when it comes to walking in Christ. Wholeness comes from keeping our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus Christ is the High Priest of our confession! What confession is that?? Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
This Hebrews passage is powerful and full of truth that many believers skip over. Here in this passage we have two households being compared and contrasted. In fact in the world there are only two households! Either you belong to the household of Moses or the household of Jesus Christ. Let me establish this truth a little further with verses before we get back to the Hebrews passage itself.
Galatians 3:22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.
Here Galatians establishes this truth. You are either under the law of Moses and belong to that house or you have come to faith in Jesus Christ and are in that household.
Hebrews 3 For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. 4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. 5 And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.
Hebrews 3 says Jesus is faithful over His house just as Moses was faithful over his house. However the households have some differences in them. Jesus Christ house has more glory than the house of Moses. The difference is so great! Moses was faithful as a servant; Jesus is faithful as the Son! Moses points to one who was coming; Jesus is the substance of that which Moses’ household pointed to! Moses’ house was a pattern and shadow Jesus was the fulfillment of the promises God declared.
John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
If you have come to a genuine confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ you belong in His household; you must hold fast the confidence and rejoicing in Jesus Christ firm to the end! Your confession is the most valued treasure you have.
Colossians 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. 21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight; 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Continue in the faith until the end; it has great reward!
