Jesus brings complete deliverance; complete victory over sin is the promise of Jesus. He who the Son sets free is free indeed. What great news!
“Jesus Brings Complete Deliverance”
-
Jesus indeed is the remitter of sin. However His work goes beyond and is greater than simply remittance it is sitting people free from their sin with glorious liberty!
Galatians 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
A greater revelation of His grace can bring you into freedom, with every bondage broken and every burdensome yoke destroyed. So many take this above passage as just part of Paul’s greeting to the church and it is; however it is much more than just a greeting. Jesus gave Himself for ours sins that He might deliver us from this present evil age!
-
We don’t just need deliverance from sin, we need deliverance from the scourge of sin! A mother who has aborted her baby needs more than simple forgiveness; she needs deliverance from the guilt and shame and the tormenting remorse that ever plagues her soul. Those doctors who have murdered one baby after another in the womb of its mother has the stench of guilt upon them. It not only affects the doctor, but the nurses and all who counseled it was okay to murder. Their deed is a plight upon our land; the blood of all those babies are still crying out for justice. It not just the acts of sin that need forgiveness; it is the curse of sin we need complete deliverance from.
-
Jesus came to forgive sin and completely deliver us from bondage. The bondages can take on many forms. For some it is an addition to pornography, others drugs or alcohol addition. Jesus came for the oppressed to be set free, for the captives to be liberated, for the blind to see, and the gospel to be preached to the poor. What has you in bondage? I have named a few specific ones but there are many more for which Christ came to set the afflicted free.
-
Galatians 3:9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but "the man who does them shall live by them." 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
-
Some have never walked in the liberty God has provided because they are under the curse of the law. This is a word of deliverance! Your good performance can not set you free from the scourge of sin. You have placed your faith in your trying. You try, you fail, you try, you fail, you try, you fail… No one is or ever can be justified by being a good performer of the law. The law is not of faith; the law is performance. It is Christ who has redeemed us from the scourge of sin by becoming a curse for us. You can receive the promise of the Spirit for complete deliverance from every bondage but it is only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. A misdirected faith is no faith at all; when faith’s object is Jesus Christ and Him crucified it brings deliverance.
-
Have you repented and promised God you would do better only to find yourself in the awful scourge of the same sin again? Change the object of your faith from your own performance to Jesus Christ the righteous One. It is the place of forgiveness and complete deliverance.
-
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
-
Whose obedience have you been trusting in? In whose strength shall we lean on? The sacrifice of Jesus is so great that it brings victory from sin and over sin! The law was brought that the offense might abound. Is the scourge of sin abounding in your life? Only for the believer may it be said, “Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” As long you attempt victory by better performance you give sin strength in your life.
-
1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
-
Does sin have strength in your life? Have you allowed the strength of sin to rule in your life? The strength of sin is the law. The end of sin is found exclusively in Jesus. God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and there is no other way to victory over sin!
-
John 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." 33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free'?" 34 Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 "And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
-
John 8:32 is one of the most abused and taken out of context scriptures I know of. I have heard preachers preach entire sermons on the truth will set you free, without putting it in the context Jesus spoke of. It is not some generic truth that set you free, it is a specific truth that Jesus spoke of and it is a specific thing you gain freedom from. The truth that set you free is Jesus Himself; what He sets you free from specifically is sin! There are two groups of people in the world today. Slaves of sin and sons whom Jesus has set free. When Jesus sets you free you are free from sin indeed. Can such truth be so? Yes, Yes it is so.
-
This freedom is found exclusively in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus is the remitter of sin; Jesus is also our liberator from sin.
-
Hebrews 1:3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
-
Liberty is only found in the work that Jesus did at the cross! Where is the object of your faith?
-
Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
-
The hostility against you was nailed to the cross! Your forgiveness is exclusive in Jesus Christ obedience.
-
Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. 11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.
-
God was satisfied with the offering of the soul of Jesus Christ; God is satisfied exclusively by this offering and no other offering may be substituted. To bring another offering for sin is disparaging of the holy offering Jesus Christ presented on our behalf. In Christ alone has our sin and iniquities been atoned for and there is no other atonement.
-
What is a believer to do when he sins? Great question!
-
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
-
If we as believer sin, we need to run (not walk) to our advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He alone is the propitiation for sins and not for ours only but also for the whole world. Romans 6 lays the ground work very well for believers to walk as sons with freedom from sin.
-
Romans 6:7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
-
If you have true salvation you died to sin. If you have never died to sin you have never had a true salvation and you need to come to true repentance for your sin.
-
Romans 6:8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.
-
Jesus died once for our sin and death no longer has dominion over Him!
-
Romans 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
-
Jesus died to sin once for all! Once is the how many times and for all is the length of time it last. Romans 6:11 is powerful! Like Jesus died to sin once for all you reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. It is time for the believer to live by faith and not by sight. Reckon yourself to be dead indeed to sin. Why? That is the strength of your freedom from sin. Based upon Jesus Christ death and resurrection recognize yourself to be dead indeed to sin, but alive unto God. This is a stumbling block for many believers and they continue in the scourge of sin. Faith in the atoning work of Christ is your freedom. Run to your advocate Jesus!
-
Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!
-
Sin shall not have dominion over you because you are not under law but under grace. You can trust in His precious atonement. Never, never misuse you liberty from sin as your excuse to sin. How shall we who have died to sin live any longer there in. Present yourself to God as an instrument of righteousness. You can because of your advocate with God, Jesus Christ the Righteous One. Walk in your full deliverance!
