God has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light so we might show forth praise due His name. We have been called to live a lifestyle of worship.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
What a great definition of a good church service; even better, what a great definition of the way we worship as a lifestyle! “Let” speaks of a purposefully action on the part of the believer to allow the word of Christ to dwell in us. Teaching and admonishing one another. There is clear direct instruction we admonish with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Every deed of the believer being motivated in the name of Jesus!
Psalm 47:1 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! 2 For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth.
We have been called out of darkness to proclaim the praises of God. Clap your hands and then put a shout in your mouth. The LORD Most High is awesome; He worthy of our lifestyle of worship!
Psalm 100:1 Make a joyful shout to the LORD , all you lands! 2 Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. 3 Know that the LORD , He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
Make a joyful shout to the LORD … suggestion or instruction? Come before His presence with singing. Here is divine order, come into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Praise and worship is always accompanied by a spirit of thanksgiving. We can worship because His truth endures to all generations.

Jeremiah 33:11 'the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say: "Praise the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good, For His mercy endures forever"; and of those who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD . For I will cause the captives of the land to return as at the first,' says the LORD .
Psalm 107:21 Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 22 Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.

David danced at the ark of the covenant being moved into Jerusalem ; his wife despised him. Careful how you judge others in their worship! God received David’ worship!
2 Samuel 6:20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, "How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!“ 21 So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD , who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD , over Israel . Therefore I will play music before the LORD . 22 "And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."
David was returning to his house to bless it; not all in the house were prepared or even desired to receive the blessing David desired to bring. David was unrelenting and declared I will worship and be undignified, and will be humble in my own sight. Let worship be your lifestyle even when the family and friends around despise it.

Psalm 117:1 Praise (Halal) the LORD , all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples! 2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise (Halal) the LORD !

PRAISE = HALAL: Shine, to be clear, to rave, to boast, to celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.
The Hebrew word “Halal” is by far the most often word used for praise. We have been called to shine, rave, boast, celebrate, and to be clamorously foolish before the Lord.
Psalm 18:3 I will call upon the LORD , who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.
Psalm 22:22 I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You. 23 You who fear the LORD , praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel ! 24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard. 25 My praise shall be of You in the great assembly; I will pay My vows before those who fear Him. 26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the LORD . Let your heart live forever!
Those who seek God will praise the Lord purposefully! God dwells in the praises of His people!
Psalm 149:1 Praise the LORD ! Sing to the LORD a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints. 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. 3 Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. 4 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. 5 Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds.
Psalm 150:1 Praise the LORD ! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! 2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! 3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! 4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! 5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD . Praise the LORD !
If you have breath you have been called to worship and praise the LORD !
Ephesians 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
The instruction is to be filled with the Spirit; you determine if you will be filled with the Spirit or not. Put a song, psalms, hymn, and or spiritual song in your mouth. Do it all unto the LORD for He is worthy of all our praise; not for a moment but for a lifestyle.
