Spirit, Soul, Body: The Law, The Cross, The Covenant of Grace lesson 2

Last week we talked about the perfect Adam, this week the fallen adam. We went over the spirit soul and body of the fallen man and the conversation between the devil and Eve. Coming up the conversation between God, Adam and Eve.

In last week’s lesson we covered the spirit, soul, and body of the 1st and 2nd Adam. By the 1st Adam we all were birthed with a sin nature.  By the second Adam (Jesus Christ) we can receive life in our spirit.  Jesus indeed is a life giving spirit!  This next phase is to cover the fall of man.

In the 1st and second Adam you will remember there was life in spirit soul and body.  FALLEN MAN SPIRIT sin consciousness gained; Innocence Lost.  The spirit of man is no longer in perfect union with God.  Spirit to spirit connection with God broken!  The death is spiritual separation from God

Genesis 2:15  Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.  16  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;  17  "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

The Lord commanded the man not to eat of the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil” for the day you eat of it you will surely die.  Adam and Eve partook and the word of God came true!  That day they suffered loss of spirit to Spirit connection with God.

Fallen Man Soul; Alive to sin nature; Will, emotions intellect ruled by sin nature; Self Centered.

Ephesians 4:17  This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,  18  having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;  19  who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Ephesians 4 leaves a vivid picture of fallen man.  Man living in the futility of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God.  The fallen man has blindness in their heart and out of that blindness they live their life.

Jeremiah 7:24  "Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.

Israel indictment was they followed the counsels and dictates of their evil heart.  The law came to make sin exceedingly sinful and show man they were powerless against the sin nature’s control.  Only the second Adam could bring remedy to it; one needs to partake from the tree of life!

Psalm 51:5  Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.

We all came from the seed of 1st Adam; we have been birthed in sin and brought forth in iniquity; we have all been birthed with the sin nature ruling.  Have you ever notice you don’t have to teach a 2 year old to lie?  It is in their nature!

Fallen Man Body; Condemned to receive the wages of death; Alive to sin nature

John 3:19  "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Romans 3:10  As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;  11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."

Many know this passage as part of the Romans road to salvation.  Man in our fallen state has no good in them.  Why?  One good act does not make a man good; a thousand good acts does not make a man good!  There is none good but God; righteousness imputed is the only solution.  That is found exclusively in Jesus Christ alone; oops jumping ahead.

Revelation 21:8  "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

All who remain in their fallen state will be partakers of the second death.  The wages of sin is death!

John 8:41  "You do the deeds of your father." Then they said to Him, "We were not born of fornication; we have one Father; God."  42  Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.  43  "Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.  44  "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Jesus made a clear dividing line.  Those who truly love Jesus have God as their Father though faith in Jesus.  Those who do not become children of God already have the devil as their father.  There is not an in-between category!

Matthew 7:22  "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?  23  "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

This Matthew passage strikes my heart!  Here is a group of people who will say to Jesus, we have prophesied in Your name, and done many wonders in your name.  Jesus words to them are “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”    This group is trusting in their doings, even to the casting out demons.  Jesus words “I never knew you, you who practice lawlessness.”  Wow they considered themselves to be doing the work of God and Jesus perspective was it was lawlessness.  We can not skip over the genuine confession of faith as the point of salvation.  We must trust in what Jesus did and not in our own religious works.

Remember the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”?  Jesus said many will say to Him look what I have done…  Yes, living from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil can not bring life to man.  We must partake of Jesus, the bread of life.

Genesis 3:1  Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"

This passage of Genesis 3 is amazing; it is up front and personal conversation first with the snake and then with God.  This week we visit the snake; next week we will cover the conversation with God.  Here in verse one the devil begins a conversation with the Eve.  Notice His tactic is to question what God has said.  It is the same tactic he used when he tempted Jesus.  If you are the Son of God…  If the enemy of your soul can get you to doubt the word of God he can have open season in that area of  your life.

Genesis 3:2  And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3  "but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'"

The scripture says God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree.  It seems that Eve got the word of  truth second hand.  Her second hand revelation added to what God spoke.

Genesis 3:4  Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.  5  "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Now the devil pours the lie on thick “You will not surely die.”  God is withholding His best from you is the implication of the enemy.  Then the devil wraps the lie in semblance  of the truth, “your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:6  So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.  7  Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings

The devil had now stirred up desire for the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.  Eve looks with desire on the forbidden tree for the first time!  She took of its fruit and ate!  She gave some of the fruit to Adam and he too ate!  They ate and their eyes were indeed opened to a sin consciousness.  They knew they were naked; the first reaction of man was to make cover themselves with fig leaves.  Self covering is one of the symptoms of sin.

Genesis 3:8  And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Even though Adam and Eve had made a covering it did not suffice; they heard the sound of God walking in the garden and they hid.  This was part of the ramifications from eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  How many times had Adam and Eve heard the sound of the LORD and ran to greet Him? Sin separates

After the second Adam (Jesus) came and died on the cross the sound from heaven came again!  Acts 2 suddenly a sound came from heaven as a rushing mighty wind filled the house and tongues of fire set upon each one of them. Then they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.  Jesus bring reconciliation.

Spirit Soul Body: The Law, The Cross, The Covenant of Grace lesson 1

God longs to walk in relationship with His children.  It is His will to make us whole spirit, soul, and body!

Spirit Soul & Body The Five States of Mankind
1 Perfect Man
2 Fallen Man
3 Born again Man
4 Apostate Man
5 Redemption’s Completion

The first half of this series is teaching on the spirit, soul, and body of man.  As listed above there are five states of man in regard to spirit, soul, and body and man’s relationship with a the Holy God.

Some have never consider these truths so they have not rightly divided as the scriptures clearly do.

Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The word of God is living and powerful; stop, pause, consider the truth of the word of God.  So sharp is the word of God it can pierce between the spirit, soul, and body of a man.  Note the active agent of the word of God works on the man.  This is intimacy with God. Reading the word and hearing the word brings change to the man.  Being born again brings perfection to your spirit, and it begins the process in your soul and body.

1 Thessalonians 5:23  Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When you begin to look for the truths dividing between spirit, soul, and body you find the new covenant replete with the truth.  This passage showing the desire of God to make the whole being of man blameless.  Notice it is God Himself doing the sanctifying completely.  Trust in the God who is doing the work in you.

John 4:23  "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  24  "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

Jesus was speaking words of revelation that were never spoken before to the Samaritan woman.  It is not on the mount where Samaria worshipped nor in the place where the Jews worshipped; the time has come for true worshippers to worship in spirit and in truth.  Our connection to the Father is Spirit to spirit and there is no other way to worship.  The fact of the matter is the Father is seeking you out.  He wants you, His desire is for you!

1.        The spirit of man is where life is breathed into man.
2.        The soul is the where the will, intellect and emotions of man reside.
3.        The body is the shell the outward part of man.  It is what other men see of you.
4.        The true you is revealed by the condition of your spirit and soul

There have only been 2 men of all creation that were created without sin.  When God created the 1st Adam he was perfectly joined with God spirit, soul, and body.  His heart, mind, and will was in complete harmony with God.   The next man that came in perfection was the man Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God.

Genesis 1:27  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  28  Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

God created Adam and Eve and blessed them giving them dominion over all the earth.  Adam and Eve had perfect fellowship and daily communion with God.

1 Corinthians 15:44  It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual bodyThere is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.  45  And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.  46  However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.  47  The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.  48  As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.  49  And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

The first Adam was a living being; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.  The first Adam was of the earth, made of dust.  The second Man is the Lord from heaven! The man was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.  Wow, here the word is calling believers heavenly being.  It time to arise and believe the word of God over our traditions!  We are  heavenly men Ephesians 2 declares we have been seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  2 Corinthians 5:17 declares us to be new creations in Christ Jesus.  Old things have past away and behold all things have become new.  It is time we gain heavens perspective and live from it.  If you are born again you are a new creation the old is gone; don’t lay claim to it!  The new has come lay claim to it!

2 Corinthians  5:21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jesus the second Adam came and traded.  He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.  Christ in you the hope of glory; what a trade!

Hebrews 4:15  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

The second Adam became our High Priest who can sympathize with our weaknesses.  He cares about what you go though and sympathizes with where our heart is at; yet He was without sin.  His sacrifice is so great we can come into God’s presence boldly at our very hour of need.

1 Peter 1:18  knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,  19  but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Your redemption is wrought with heaven's greatest commodity, the blood of Jesus!  You have great worth to God; proof is in the price He paid to have fellowship with you.  Behold the Lamb!  The Lamb of God alone is the qualifier to bring you to God.  There is no other qualifier; the object of your faith must be Jesus alone!

Genesis 2:7  And the LOR D God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. 8  The LOR D God planted a garden eastward in Eden , and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9  And out of the ground the LOR D God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Two trees, the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  The devil has not changed his tactics; he still desires men to live from the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”.   Jesus said “I am the bread of life” and “I am the way the truth and the life”.  Life can not come by your understanding of good and evil and do more good than evil.  Life is exclusively in Jesus!  God calls His people to live from the tree of life!

Genesis 2:21 And the LOR D God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.  22  Then the rib which the LOR D God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.  23  And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man. "  24  Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  25  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

God created Adam and Eve perfect spirit, soul and body and joined them together; God defining marriage once for all!  They were both naked, and were not ashamed!  Unfortunately this is not the end of the story next lesson, the fall of man…

Discipleship - 12 Major Themes: Lesson 13 FOLLOWING GODLY LEADERSHIP

God puts godly leadership in our lives to equps us to fulfill the destiny of His heart.

1 Chronicles 13:1  Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.  2  And David said to all the assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you, and if it is of the LORD our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and their common-lands, that they may gather together to us;  3  "and let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of Saul."  4  Then all the assembly said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

God has divine order.  King David and the people of Israel decided to move the ark of the covenant to David’s hometown Jerusalem .  It was a noble and correct cause.  However, in this first attempt to move the ark of the covenant they loaded it upon a cart with oxen pulling.  This was against divine order.  They came ready for celebration and rejoicing that the ark was coming.  The oxen stumbled and a man reached out his hand to steady the ark.  God’s anger arose and struck the man that touched the ark.  King David and His people has consulted one another but had not consulted God for the divine order to move the ark.

1 Chronicles 15:12  He said to them, "You are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place I have prepared for it.  13  "For because you did not do it the first time, the LORD our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order."

This passage is the second attempt for the ark of the covenant to move.  This is where we learn they were out of God’s divine order using a cart pulled by oxen.  When the Levites carried the ark of the covenant in God prescribed order the mission was successful.  Divine order is important and can not be ignored no matter who you are!  Following godly leadership is part of God’s divine order in this covenant of grace.

1 Timothy 5:17  Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.  18  For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain," and, "The laborer is worthy of his wages.“  19  Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses.  20  Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear.  21  I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality.

Godly leadership and especially those who labor in the word of God are worthy of double honor.  The laborer is worthy of his wages.  D on’t even receive an accusation against an elder except there be  two or three witnesses that agree!  God does not call us to follow any man blindly.  Follow the man of God as He follows Christ.  Following the man of God is not about some man ruling your life.  It is about you receiving the word of God that is being preached!

Ephesians 4:11  And He Himself gave some to be apostlessome prophetssome evangelistsand some pastors and teachers,  12  for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,  13  till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;  14  that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

The fivefold ministry is given to the church for the equipping of the saints.  Some have excused themselves from the fivefold ministry by not being plugged into a local church body.  Home church cuts you off from the fivefold ministry and an equipping will be missing.

Hebrews 13:7  Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.

Men have not been called to rule over men by dominion over another’s faith.  True shepherding of the flock is ruling by example.  Consider the outcome of the leader’s conduct.  God has not called us to follow blindly!  God’s leadership will speak the word of God to you, pointing to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  Beware of men who what to rule as lording over the sheep.

Hebrews 13:16  But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.  17  Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

There is a call directly from the word of God to obey those who rule over you!  Obey the word of God they are speaking.  Yes, this word even calls for us to be submissive to the godly leadership, God has placed in our lives.  Godly leadership must give an account for your soul.  This is not a very American word.  Nonetheless, the word of God is eternal and needs taught properly so divine order can be in place in the assembly.  We must respect the man of God as the man of God to receive from the gift God has placed in him.

Matthew 10:41  "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

Not too long after I starting attending Overflow I was on my way to see pastor Jeff.  My thought was “I am going to see my buddy Jeff”.  The Holy Spirit spoke to me immediately.  No not your buddy Jeff but the Man of God Jeff.  God was teaching me a very valuable lesson.  If I was going to go see my buddy Jeff I was about to get a buddies reward.  However if I was going to see the prophet of God I was opening myself up to receive the prophets reward.  We must give honor to whom honor is due. If I want to receive the greatest reward from encountering Jeff, it must be from the perspective of the gifting and callings God has placed in his life.  I would far rather receive from the gifting God has placed in Pastor Jeff than to receive from my good buddy Jeff!  It is imperative for us to learn to see one another after God’s point of view!

Numbers 12:1  Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman.  2  So they said, "Has the LOR D indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?" And the LOR D heard it.  3  (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)  4  Suddenly the LOR D said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, "Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!" So the three came out.  5  Then the LOR D came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward.  6  Then He said, "Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LOR D , make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream.  7  Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house.  8  I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the LOR D . Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?“  9  So the anger of the LOR D was aroused against them, and He departed.  10  And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper.  11  So Aaron said to Moses, "Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.

This passage speaks volumes all by itself.  May we learn to honor the leadership God places us under!  This passage was put in the word for our benefit and learning.

Psalm 105:15  Saying, "Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.“

God’s is jealous for His people; it is His word that speaks to all the world not to touch His anointed ones, and do His prophets no harm.  We will do well to heed this truth.

Psalm 92:13  Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God.  14  They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,

The best way to flourish under Godly leadership is to be planted in a good church.  Being planted in the house of the Lord comes with promise!

Galatians 6:6  Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.

Paul the teacher of this precious grace message instructed those who were learning to share with the one who is teaching you the word.

Hebrews 10:24  And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,  25  not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

The new covenant church has been commanded to come together in assembly.  Jesus is coming very soon and now that we see the day approaching we should be coming together all the more!

1 Corinthians 4:14  I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you.  15  For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.  16  Therefore I urge you, imitate me.  17  For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.

God has called us to imitate Godly leadership; yes, here it is in the word!

2 Corinthians 1:24  Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand.

True Godly leadership will always point you to following Jesus and the object of your faith being in Jesus Christ alone!  It is by faith in Jesus Christ that you stand!

1 Corinthians 11:1  Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

Godly leadership does not push, shove, or manipulate you; godly leadership imitates Jesus!  Godly leadership always calls you to follow Jesus Christ.

Discipleship: 12 Major Themes: Lesson 12 THE WAY WE WORSHIP

God has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light so we might show forth praise due His name. We have been called to live a lifestyle of worship.

Colossians 3:16  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17  And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

What a great definition of a good church service; even better, what a great definition of the way we worship as a lifestyle!  “Let” speaks of a purposefully action on the part of the believer to allow the word of Christ to dwell in us.  Teaching and admonishing one another.  There is clear direct instruction we admonish with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.  Every deed of the believer being motivated in the name of Jesus!

Psalm 47:1  Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!  2  For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth.

We have been called out of darkness to proclaim the praises of God.  Clap your hands and then put a shout in your mouth.  The LORD Most High is awesome; He worthy of our lifestyle of worship!

Psalm 100:1  Make a joyful shout to the LORD , all you lands!  2  Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.  3  Know that the LORD , He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.  4  Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.  5  For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

Make a joyful shout to the LORD … suggestion or instruction?  Come before His presence with singing.  Here is divine order, come into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.  Praise and worship is always accompanied by a spirit of thanksgiving.  We can worship because His truth endures to all generations.

WORSHIP = KARA: Bow down the knee, to prostrate to bring down, subdue.

Psalm 95:6  Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.  7  For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice:

Isaiah 45:22  "Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.  23  I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.

PRAISE = YA D AH: Extended hand; Throw out your hand

Psalm 134:1  Behold, bless the LORD , All you servants of the LORD , Who by night stand in the house of the LORD !  2  Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, And bless the LORD .  3  The LORD who made heaven and earth Bless you from Zion !

Psalm 141:1  LORD , I cry out to You; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You.  2  Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.  3  Set a guard, O LORD , over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

PRAISE = ZAMAR: To touch the strings, to make music with voice

Psalm 57:8  Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.  9  I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.

Psalm 30:4  Sing unto the LORD , O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Psalm 33:1  Rejoice in the LORD , O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.  2  Praise the LORD with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.  3  Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.

PRAISE = TOW D AH: Thanksgiving; Throwing out your hands in expectation of things received and Things not yet received.

Jeremiah 33:11  'the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say: "Praise the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good, For His mercy endures forever"; and of those who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD . For I will cause the captives of the land to return as at the first,' says the LORD .

Psalm 107:21  Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!  22  Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.

2 Samuel 6:14  Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.  15  So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.  16  Now as the ark of the LORD came into the City of David , Michal, Saul's daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the LORD ; and she despised him in her heart.

David danced at the ark of the covenant being moved into Jerusalem ; his wife despised him.  Careful how you judge others in their worship!  God received David’ worship!

2 Samuel 6:20  Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, "How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!“  21  So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD , who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD , over Israel . Therefore I will play music before the LORD .  22  "And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

David was returning to his house to bless it; not all in the house were prepared or even desired to receive the blessing David desired to bring.  David was unrelenting and declared I will worship and be undignified, and will be humble in my own sight.  Let worship be your lifestyle even when the family and friends around despise it.

PRAISE = SHABACH: To address in a loud tone, to shout

Psalm 117:1  Praise (Halal) the LORD , all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!  2  For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise (Halal) the LORD !

Psalm 63:1  O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.  2  So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.  3  Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.

Psalm 35:27  Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, "Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant."

PRAISE = HALAL: Shine, to be clear, to rave, to boast, to celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.

The Hebrew word “Halal” is by far the most often word used for praise.   We have been called to shine, rave, boast, celebrate, and to be clamorously foolish before the Lord.

Psalm 18:3  I will call upon the LORD , who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

Psalm 22:22  I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.  23  You who fear the LORD , praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel !  24  For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard.  25  My praise shall be of You in the great assembly; I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.  26  The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the LORD . Let your heart live forever!

Those who seek God will praise the Lord purposefully!  God dwells in the praises of His people!

Psalm 149:1  Praise the LORD ! Sing to the LORD a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints.  2  Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.  3  Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.  4  For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.  5  Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds.

Psalm 150:1  Praise the LORD ! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!  2  Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!  3  Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp!  4  Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!  5  Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!  6  Let everything that has breath praise the LORD . Praise the LORD !

If you have breath you have been called to worship and praise the LORD !

Ephesians 5:18  And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,  19  speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

The instruction is to be filled with the Spirit; you determine if you will be filled with the Spirit or not.  Put a song,  psalms, hymn, and or spiritual song in your mouth.  Do it all unto the LORD for He is worthy of all our praise; not for a moment but for a lifestyle.
