Jesus The Deliverer

Jesus the deliver; Jesus wants every bondage in your life broken and the crooked places made straight.
Jesus The Deliverer

Jonah 1:14  Therefore they cried out to the LORD and said, "We pray, O LORD, please do not let us perish for this man's life, and do not charge us with innocent blood; for You, O LORD, have done as it pleased You."  15  So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging.  16  Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice to the LORD and took vows.  17  Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. -- Jonah 2:1  Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the fish's belly.  2  And he said: "I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, And He answered me. "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice.  …  10  So the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

God has always been a God of deliverance.  God delivered the Israelites from the bondage of slavery in Egypt .  God delivered Jonah from the belly of the fish.  Jonah was in the belly of the fish directly due to his own disobedience to God.  Yet God was merciful and delivered.  God has so many times shown Himself to be a deliver.

Daniel 3:12  "There are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon : Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; these men, O king, have not paid due regard to you. They do not serve your gods or worship the gold image which you have set up."  13  Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, gave the command to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. So they brought these men before the king.  …  17  "If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.  18  "But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up."  …  24  Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king."  25  "Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."  26  Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here." Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire.

God delivered Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego from the fiery furnace.  God delivered these three Hebrews while they were standing up for their faith in God.  False religion often tries to persecute those living for the one true God.  God delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego without the smell of smoke upon them.  God’s deliverance was miraculous.

Daniel 6:4  So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him.  5  Then these men said, "We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God."  6  So these governors and satraps thronged before the king, and said thus to him: "King Darius, live forever!  7  "All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.  …  10  Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem , he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days. …  16  So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, "Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you."  …  20  And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?"  21  Then Daniel said to the king, "O king, live forever!  22  "My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you."

Daniel was delivered from the lion’s den when his enemy conspired against him.  God is a deliverer and will frustrate the schemes of the enemy set against you.  The prophet Isaiah declared no weapon formed against the righteous shall prosper.

Luke 13:11  And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.  12  But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity."  13  And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

Jesus delivered this woman who had been bound by a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years.  Jesus demonstrated the Father’s desire to deliver His children all through His earthly ministry.

Matthew 9:18  While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live."   19  So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.  20  And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.  21  For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well."  22  But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.  23  When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing,  24  He said to them, "Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping." And they ridiculed Him.  25  But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

Jesus raised a dead girl to life because her father pursued Jesus.  In the middle of this father and daughter story a woman with an issue of blood had a made up mind to pursue Jesus.  The ruler came openly and the woman came covertly.  They both found their deliverance by pursuing Jesus.  The woman had declared if I can just touch the hem of His garment I will be healed.  Jesus words to her “your faith has made you well.”  What is it you need deliverance from?  Put your faith in Jesus your Savoir.  Reach out and touch Him!

Matthew 9:26  And the report of this went out into all that land. 27  When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, "Son of David, have mercy on us!"  28  And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord."  29  Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it be to you.

Here two blind men cried out to Jesus “Son of David, have mercy on us”.  They were invoking the right and privilege of being an Israelite the chosen people of God.  Jesus touched them and told them “According to your faith let it be to you.”  God is a covenant keeping God!  When you get in covenant with God you can make a demand upon the covenant you have been birthed in.

Hebrews 8:6  But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

We have been brought into a better covenant that has better promises.

Psalm 103:1  Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!  2  Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:  3  Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,  4  Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,  5  Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.  6  The LORD executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed. … 11  For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;  12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us

What great and precious promises we can be partakers of.

John 10:10  "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Jesus came that we might have life and life more abundantly.  Jesus wants to see you delivered, He wants you to live abundantly.  You can be a partaker through faith in Jesus Christ.  Jesus is your deliver.

2 Timothy 2:24  And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient,  25  in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,  26  and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

Many believers need deliverance by coming to their senses.  The deliverance will not come by getting in another prayer line, it will not come by running after some deliverance ministry, and the deliverance will not come by being in a Holy Spirit filled church service.  Their deliverance is in receiving the truth of the word of God.  Like the verses say, those caught up in perversion or bondage need to exalt the truth of the word of God above their mindset.  Deception is a funny thing; if one knew they were deceived they would not be deceived any more.  The question needs to be asked, do I reflect the word of God and am I walking in all of the promised benefits?

2 Corinthians 10:4  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,  5  casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Spiritual warfare begins with bringing your thought life in agreement with God’s word.  Strongholds in the believers life can be brought down by casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.  It is possible to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Jesus Christ.
Those in bondage to different things usually don’t abhor what God abhors.  What is the lust or entice that causes you to stumble?  Begin to ask God to help you abhor what He abhors and to love what He loves.  The stronghold in your life is not too strong for God’s delivering hand.

Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.  10  For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life

If God demonstrated His love by sending Jesus to the cross how much more shall you be saved from His wrath.  If we have now been reconciled to God through the death of Jesus, much more we shall be saved by His life.  Put the object of your faith solely in Jesus Christ and listen for His voice.  He will lead you into triumph!

Hebrews 13:8  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

What you have seen Jesus do in His earthly ministry, He is willing to do for you.  He healed the sick, raised the dead, set the oppressed free and gave liberty to the captive.  Jesus is our great deliver.
