Jesus will bring you through and will lead by the precious Holy Spirit

2009-11-22 Sermon notes

11-29-2009

John 16:1 "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. 2 "They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. 3 "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. 4 "But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you. 5 "But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?' 6 "But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

Those who preach exclusively Jesus is the only way and there is no other way, will suffer persecution. As we see the wickedness growing don’t think it strange to suffer for standing for the Word of God. Our brothers and sisters in Christ who have gone on before us did face even death! Even today in fact there are brothers and sisters who face strong persecution and even death for their declaration of Jesus.

1 Peter 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Many hate the “after you have suffered for a while” message! The promise is after you have suffered for a while Jesus Christ Himself will perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you!

Out of trouble and suffering arise a perfection, an establishing, a strengthening, and a settling in you! Your trouble is not unique although the enemy of your soul would like you to think so! When we humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand we can unburden our soul! Humbling ourself is accepting God’s way! It is surrendering to the Father’s will for our life! Know the trouble it self is not from God! God only gives perfect and good gifts; however as the enemy attacks, God will raise a standard against him. If the trouble is what God wanted you to have He would not instruct you to resist the devil.

Many have gone to resist the devil by rebuking him and commanding him. However, have you ever rebuked and rebuked and rebuked until your rebuker is worn out? Here in 1 Peter 5 is a great key to your victory over the trouble and the enemy of our soul. Resist the enemy STEADFAST IN THE FAITH. Steadfast in Bible faith! That is the object of your faith is Jesus Christ! Our only overcoming the world and any and all attacks of the enemy is found in Jesus Christ alone!

1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world; our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

To resist satan is not rebuking him harder and more often. The word of instructions is to resist him steadfast in the faith! By keeping the object of your faith ever in Jesus Christ the crucified one! Our faith is in God! Our expectation is in Jesus Christ alone. On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand!

John 16: 7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

The Helper will be by your side for every trouble, heartache and affliction we may face. Thank God for the Helper! Jesus went away so He might send the Helper. Jesus spoke so much about the Helper.

John 16:8 "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 "of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 "of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 "of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

Jesus by way of revelations reveals the work of the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

1 Unbelievers will be convicted they are sinners!

2 Believers will be convicted of righteousness!

3 Of judgment because the ruler of the world is judged!

John 16:12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

The Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus! Jesus teaches us that every true believer will be lead of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus. This whole new covenant is based on glorifying Jesus. God the Father Himself declared for us to honor the Son. If you honor the Son you have honored the Father! It is time for the name of Jesus to be lifted up! The Holy Spirit will take from what is Jesus’ and declare it to you! Many people are speaking works and calling it the Holy Spirit; however if it does not speak of Jesus Christ and glorify Him beware!

1 John 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 24 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that He has promised us; eternal life. 26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

Jesus has given us the Helper; receive from Him today!
