Discipleship - 12 Major Themes: Speaking the Word of God lesson 3

Speaking the word of God is the delight and life of the believer! Put the word in your mouth and see the glory of God manifest!

Isaiah 59:21  "As for Me," says the LORD, "this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouthnor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants' descendants," says the LORD, "from this time and forevermore.“  60:1  Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.

The covenant that God has brought us into is spoken of here in Isaiah!  By the Spirit of God we have the Word of God put in our mouth.  You see God writes His oracles upon our heart; whatever is in our heart comes out of our mouth.  We the children need to learn to surrender to His word in our mouth.  The promise, so sweet, is for the word to be in our mouth , our children’s mouth, and our children’s children’s mouth!  The spiritual disciplines don’t save us; only the blood of Jesus brings redemption.  We have been birthed by the living word of God.  The spiritual disciples brings us into intimacy and develops maturity.  When we put His word in our mouth the glory of the Lord will be manifest.  The Glory of the Lord is upon the children who have the word flowing from their mouth

2 Corinthians 4:13  And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak,

We have been birthed into the kingdom and it operates by faith in God.  The just shall live by faith!  The word has been deposited into us; however we are the gatekeeper of our heart.  Sometimes we listen to the voice of reason, the voice of human experience, the voice of the traditions of men, or even the voice of the circumstances that face us.  Satan has cleverly brought in a multitude of voices so we can not react properly to the life giving voice of the word of God.  What we give ear to will produce a belief of our heart and from that we speak and gain a harvest.

Proverbs 18:20  A man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth, From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.  21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit

D eath and life are in the power of the tongue; we shall reap a harvest from the fruit of our lips!  Allowing the word of God to flow through our mouth will bring the desire and destiny of God to fruition!!

Isaiah 51:16  And I have put My words in your mouthI have covered you with the shadow of My handThat I may plant the heavens,Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion , 'You are My people.'"

We are of the children of God and He has put His word in our mouth!  When we allow the word of God to remain in our mouth we are covered with the shadow of the hand of God!  POWERFUL!!  He covers us with the shadow of His hand, He plants the words of our mouth in the heavens, and lays the foundations of the earth with the words of our mouth.  It is those who have come to Mount Zion !  Hebrews 12:22 identifies those who come to Jesus is the people who have come to Mount Zion !

Isaiah 54:17  No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemnThis is the heritage of the servants of the LORD , And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD .

No weapon formed against you shall prosper!  Jesus is the one who has brought righteousness to the believer!  You shall condemn those who have formed a weapon that comes against you!

James 3:2  For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.  3  Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.  4  Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.  5  Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!  6  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.  7  For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.  8  But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.  9  With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.  10  Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.  11  Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?  12  Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

James writes under the anointing of the Holy Spirit about how man can not tame his tongue.  However, that is why God puts His word in our mouth!  The tongue is tamable surrendered to the word of God!  PUT HIS WOR D IN YOUR MOUTH!

Psalms 19:14  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LOR D , my strength and my Redeemer.

This is one powerful verse.  It is the thoughts that you nurture that are your meditation.  Meditation is a given; we all do it!  The question is what are we meditating upon!  We choose what we will meditate upon.

Isaiah 26:3  You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.  4  Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD , is everlasting strength.

The mind stayed upon God is a mind in perfect peace!  Your meditation will determine your hearts condition; your heart condition will give words to what it believes.

Psalms 1:1  Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;  2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD , And in His law he meditates day and night.  3  He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Putting the word of God in your mouth is only done by delighting yourself in it!  Here is a sure promise of the word of God.  You meditate in His truth day and night and your prosperity is certain!  You will be like a tree planted by the water; no withering leaves!

Psalms 104:33  I will sing to the LORD as long as I liveI will sing praise to my God while I have my being.  34  May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the LORD .

Speaking the word includes your worship!  Put a song of praise to God on your lips!  We are created to praise the one who brought us out of darkness!  May it be our desire to have meditations that are sweet to our God.  Put a praise in your mouth!

Bringing ones thought life into line with the Word of God is the way to change a mindset; it takes down bondages and strongholds the enemy has entrapped the believer in.

2 Corinthians 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.  4  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,  5  casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,  6  and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Your thought life gives birth to the words of your mouth.  Spiritual battle is done by bringing every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God into the obedience of Jesus Christ.  Gird up the loins of your mind  and meditate on His grace!

Ephesians 6:13  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  14  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  15  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  16  above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

Everything about the armor of God is a revelation of Jesus Christ!  Jesus is the belt buckle of truth!  Jesus is the breastplate of righteousness!  Jesus is the gospel of peace for our feet to be shod!  Jesus is the Author and Perfector of our faith!  Jesus is the word of God.  There is one single offensive weapon for the believer.  It is the word of God.  Leave the complaint and put His word in your mouth.  You will indeed overcome the foe!
