The Holy Ghost According to God’s Desire

I want to live with the Father's perspective in my life. Oh, that we might not only hear but understand and perceive God's heart. His desire concerning the Holy Ghost is revealed.

Mark 8:31  And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.  32  He spoke this word openly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.  33  But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."  34  When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.  35  "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it.

I have been considering this passage of Peter rebuking Jesus and Jesus' full reply.  Jesus begin to speak of His demise and Peter took Jesus aside and rebuked Him!  I can so identify with Peter, my Master Teacher going to the cross; how can that be a good idea.  Peter was being ruled by his own senses as opposed to being tuned into the plan of God.  It leaves me wondering, how often my actions, though noble, are not mindful of the things of God. Jesus told Peter “you are not mindful of the things of God , but the things of men.”

Romans 14:17  for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Ghost redirected the attention of the saints in Rome to the mindset of God.  The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.  Righteousness is imputed by Jesus to those who believe.  Jesus also is the one who gave the peace that open our understanding to the oneness we have with God.  Jesus is the baptizer of  the Holy Ghost.

Luke 11:1  Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."  … 13 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray it ended with the instruction that the Father would give the Holy Ghost to those who would ask.  The Father’s desire is revealed as Jesus taught on how to pray.  The good gift to be sought is the Holy Ghost!

Matthew 3:11  "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Ghost once!

Mark 1:7  And he preached, saying, "There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.  8  "I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Ghost twice.

Luke 3:16  John answered, saying to all, "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

For the third time we see Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Ghost

John 1:32  And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.  33  "I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

Now for the fourth time we Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Ghost!

Acts 1:5  "for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."  6  Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel ?"  7  And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.  8  "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem , and in all Judea and Samaria , and to the end of the earth."

Here is the fifth time we see Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Ghost.  Jesus is instructing the disciples they would shortly be baptized with the Holy Ghost.  The disciples had something else in mind, is it time for the restoration of the kingdom of Israel. ?  Jesus once again re-directed there hearts to the will of the Father for them.  You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you!  What the disciples had on their heart was not evil or wrong; however, they were not tuning into the immediate plan of God and what He was doing.  How often do we the believer fall into this pitfall?

Luke 24:44  Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me."  45  And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.  46  Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,  47  "and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem .  48  "And you are witnesses of these things.  49  "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."

What an awesome day it is when we surrender to the teacher and allow Him to open our understanding of the scriptures.  Jesus fulfilled what is written in the Law of Moses and the prophets, and the Psalms.  The door was open for repentance and remission of sins to be preached in the name of Jesus!  Then a simple word of instruction, "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."  We must not ignore the word of instruction or allow traditions or false doctrine to stop us form the surrendering to the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus declaring Himself to be the baptizer of the Holy Ghost!  Tarry until you are endued with power from on high.  Without the baptism of the Holy Ghost we are out of divine order trying to do the work of the ministry!  Divine order is endowment and then sending!

Acts 2:1  When the D ay of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.  3  Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.  4  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance

500 disciples of Jesus seen Him after the resurrection; however only 120 of them were gathered waiting for the baptism of the Holy Ghost!  All that were in the upper room that day were filled with the Holy Ghost and begin to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:12  So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?"   13  Others mocking said, "They are full of new wine."  14  But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.  15  "For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.  16  "But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17  'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.  18  And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.

Peter rose up when the crowd had gathered and preached Jesus Christ to them.  This was the first gospel message preached at the birthing of the church!  Peter told them this is that, the promised Holy Ghost!  The pouring out of the Spirit of God is promised for all flesh!  Sons, daughters, all of the servants of God, the young, the old would have the Spirit of God poured out upon them.

Acts 2:32  "This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.  33  "Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.  34  "For D avid did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: 'The LOR D said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand,  35  Till I make Your enemies Your footstool."'  36  "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."  37  Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"  38  Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  39  "For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

Jesus was exalted to the right hand of the Father and received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit!  It is the word that declares this which you now see and hear is the promise of the Holy Ghost!  What did the crowd see.  Those baptized in the Holy Ghost appeared to be drunk in the Spirit of God and they all spoke with tongues.  This was identified as the receiving of the Holy Ghost.  Those who heard Jesus Christ preached were convicted and convinced!  Peter declared divine order to them repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus, be filled with the Holy Spirit.  For the promised Holy Ghost is for all who call on the name of the Lord!  To you, your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.  The Father desires for you to be baptized in the Holy Ghost.  Jesus is still the baptizer of the Holy Ghost today!

Act 8 seen a great revival of souls saved when Philip the evangelist went and preached to them.  However when the Apostle heard they had had received the Word of the Lord they sent apostle to lay hand on them that they might receive the Holy Ghost!

Acts 8:12  But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. … 14  Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,  15  who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.  16  For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.  17  Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Thank God for evangelist who are bringing people to a genuine saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  However, beyond the confession of faith and water baptism, every believer is promised to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.  Let the word speak to you the desire of the Father, be filled with the Holy Ghost!
